Jonesboro-Edna Bernice Turman, 107 of Jonesboro passed away peacefully Friday, July 5, 2024. Â She was one month short of celebrating her 108th birthday which is August 15, 1916. Â She was the only child of William and Mollie Harvey.
Bernice loved the Lord and the church, and had the sweetest heart. Â Her greatest joy was her extraordinary impact on how she touched people. She had a remarkable ability to nurture friendships through the years. Â She was a woman of deep and humble faith in God. Â She used her special gifts, warmth, humor, patience, and a smile that could light up a room.
She attended school at Ridge Station until it closed, and then went to Valley View Schools. Â She enjoyed playing the piano for special occasions. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church where she and her husband sang in the choir. Â She also faithfully attended Nettleton Baptist Church for a number of years. Â Most of all she cherished her family, especially her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Â She was steadfast and devoted to her family.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, Raymond Turman; her three sons, Billy Ray Turman, Garry Turman, and Ronnie Turman; her grandchildren, Keith Boden, Blake Turman and Tonya McKee and her son-in-law, James McKee.
Bernice is survived by her two daughters, Mary (Stanley) Boden and Barbara McKee; three daughters-in-law, Sharon Turman, Linda Turman, and Brenda Turman; grandchildren, Trey (Becky) McKee, Michael McKee, Craig (Badmaa) Boden, Christy O’Neal, Eric Turman, Tammy (Jon) Buckelew, and Dee Turman; thirteen great grandchildren and sixteen great-great grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Central Baptist Church with a visitation at 1:00 PM until time of the service at 2:00 PM. Â Officiating will be Rev. Larry Bailey and Rev. Jay Jacobs.
Burial will be private under the direction of Gregg-Langford-Bookout Funeral Home.
