Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – April 5, 2024 –  After months of anticipation, eclipse weekend is finally here. The actual total solar eclipse happens on Monday, April 8. In Jonesboro, the first sliver of the sun will be stolen by the moon at 12:37pm. Jonesboro will experience just over two minutes of totality slightly before 2:00pm. The show is over once the moon completely moves out from in front of the sun at about 3:15pm.

The Collins Theater in downtown Paragould presents the Beatles tribute band Liverpool Legends in concert at 7pm tonight.

Jonesboro High School presents the musical “Oklahoma” tonight at 7 at the Jonesboro Performing Arts Center.

Nettleton High School presents “Little Shop of Horrors” at the Nettleton Performing Arts Center tonight at 6.

(Saturday April 6)

The Arkansas Roots music festival at the Johnny Cash Boyhood Home in Dyess, Arkansas will begin at noon on Saturday, live music, food trucks and your ticket includes a tour of Johnny Cash’s boyhood home. Tickets at the gate.

Jonesboro’s out of this world concert with the Delta Symphony Orchestra will be in Riceland Hall inside the Fowler Center on the campus of Arkansas State University. Listen to “The Planets” by Holst. The showtime is 7:30, tickets available at the door.

Oasis Arts and Eats Festival is Sunday from noon to 4, with over 100 artists, area restaurants, local musicians, kid zones and Memphis flipping Beale Street performers! It’s a free event. Main street and Huntington Avenue in downtown Jonesboro will be closed early Sunday morning through the festival.

Local band Greasy Tree is doing an eclipse party in Pocahontas at 102 west Everett Street Sunday night from 7 til 11.  Epic eclipse pre-party with music, food and good vibes!

(Monday April 8)

Total Eclipse of the Park at Shop Local Park on Highway 49 at the Farville curve. It’s a free event with live music from TRIPPP, bounce houses, free food, solar eclipse glasses. Music and food will start at noon.

Arkansas State University will host “Howl at the Sun” from 10am til 2:30pm today. Several activities are planned on campus including hands-on activities at viewing stations, distribution of solar protective glasses and a tour of the solar system model.

The city of Walnut Ridge and the Lawrence County library invite you to immerse yourself in the celestial wonders for the great total eclipse!

If you’re looking for a special place to watch the eclipse, Williams Baptist University north of Walnut Ridge is offering prime parking spots for $50. Proceeds will go to scholarships for w-b-u students. Put 56 McClellan Drive Walnut Ridge in your GPS.
