Dr. Michael Albert Sullens, 77, of Imboden passed away Sunday, April 28, 2024 at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro.
Mike was born May 26, 1946 in Walnut Ridge to the late James Oswald and Sue Jones Sullens. He was a graduate of Black Rock High School and went on to earn his Doctorate at Arkansas State University. He worked for Black River Technical College for over 25 years retiring in 2013 as Vice-President of Student Services. Mike was also a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
Mike is remembered as a loving husband, great dad, excellent trout fisherman, and a man of his word who loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Oswald and Sue Sullens; and a daughter, Mary Sullens.
Mike is survived by his wife, Janet Brown Sullens of Imboden; children, Shelly Sullens of Batesville, Jamey (Kelli) Sullens of Hoxie, Lana (John) Pyle of Walnut Ridge, Lawrence (Dena) Snow of Smithville, Elizabeth (Shawn) Mahan of Pocahontas, Jessica (Morgan) Robinson of Pocahontas, and Benjamin Snow of Pocahontas; twenty-two grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; three brothers, Jim (Anne) Sullens of Jonesboro, Patrick (Tammy) Sullens of Concord, and Danny Ray Sullens of Walnut Ridge; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 12–2 PM in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with a funeral service beginning at 2 PM. Burial with military honors presented by the Promberger-Traw VFW Post 4556 Honor Guard will be in Lawrence Memorial Park.
Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Shawn Mahan, John Pyle, Colton McGhehey, Van Gosha, John Utnage, and Jimmy Milam.
