Doyle Eugene Johnson, 92, from Paragould, Arkansas, departed this world for his “long home” on August 25, 2024, passing away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.

Doyle was welcomed into the next life by his parents, Buren and Edith Johnson, his cherished daughter Janet Millay, and his siblings Freida Combs, Hershel Johnson, Oneida Thomas, Gerald Johnson, Oma Lee Johnson, Ray Johnson, and Dianne Johnson.

He is survived by his devoted wife Ellen, with whom he shared nearly 70 beautiful years of marriage. Doyle is also remembered by his children, Archie (Renee) Johnson, Mark (Brenda) Johnson, and Diane Culver.

His legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Tara Andrews, Jacob (Morgan) Johnson, Chris (Cassie) Johnson, Landon Johnson, Caleb (Chantèl) Johnson, Hannah (Don) Howard, Michael Thomas Hall, Emily Bateman, Danielle (Will) Bruner, and Claire (Andrew) Richardson, along with 15 great-grandchildren who brought him so much joy.

Born and raised in Marmaduke, Arkansas, Doyle was a proud Army veteran who served in Korea. He was a steadfast member of the Church of Christ. As a young adult, he served as a deacon at the Twin Falls Church of Christ in Idaho. Later in life he served as an elder at the Marmaduke Church of Christ, where his faith touched many lives.

Doyle had a special gift for making people smile and laugh. He was a wonderful storyteller, poet, and cartoonist. Doyle wrote three books that reflected his creative spirit, two of which were published. He was also a talented carpenter who found joy in his work. One of his greatest pleasures was eagle watching, and he made it a daily ritual to drive to see them. Doyle’s deep, beautiful bass voice brought comfort and joy to his family and church community, and he will be remembered for the warmth and love he shared through his music, laughter, and presence.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 28 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at 7th and Mueller Church of Christ.  The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 29 at 7th and Mueller Church of Christ with Archie Johnson and Art Smith officiating.  Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery.
