David Eugene “Speck” Cavitt, 82, of Mountain Home passed away Thursday, March 21, 2024 at the Hospice House of the Ozarks in Mountain Home.
He was born May 4, 1941 in Supply to the late Cecil and Elsie Perrin Cavitt. He was a retired riverboat captain, a Mason, and a member of Mountain Home First Free Will Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Elsie Cavitt; wife, Kathryn Whitehead Cavitt; four sisters, and two brothers.
Speck is survived by his wife, Dewanda Triplett-Cavitt; children, Pamela (Bryan) Lansford of Jonesboro, David Jr (Dora) Cavitt of Henderson, AR, Paul Whitehead of Jonesboro, and Raquel (Lance) Shackleford of Jonesboro; stepchildren, Bruce (Judy) Triplett of Albany, IN, Angelia (Brian) Bender of Azle, TX, Danny (Amy) Triplett of Muncie, IN, and Tina Triplett of Fort Worth, TX; sixteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sister, Bitha Cavitt of Corning; sister-in-law, Ruth Cavitt of Corning; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 27, 2024 from 12:30 – 2:00 PM in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with a funeral service beginning at 2:00 PM with Brenan Clyatt officiating. Burial will follow in Nelson Cemetery at Reyno.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Shane Proffer, Bill Weeks, Mike Montgomery, Bryan Lansford, Lance Shackleford, and Reid Shackleford.
