Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Oct. 29, 2024 – Submissions are open for Perspectives, the Jonesboro Foundation of Arts’s annual community art contest.

Submissions are open to the public from anyone ages 4 and up.

The FOA will be accepting submissions from Nov. 11 – 15, with voting occurring Nov. 18 – 22. Winners will be announced at a pre-show at the 7 p.m. performance of “Miracle on 34th Street” on Nov. 22. Submissions can be picked up at the Forum Box Office during business hours Dec. 10 – 20.

The FOA uses this as an opportunity to collect canned food donations for the NEA Food Bank in the form of “votes.” They are partnering with the Keep Jonesboro Beautiful Commission for an additional submission category.

Artwork can be entered into two categories: General and Keep Jonesboro Beautiful. According to a news release from the FOA, anything can be submitted in the General category so long as it’s creative. The Keep Jonesboro Beautiful category, asks artists to depict what makes Jonesboro beautiful to them and “how you view our city’s beauty today or what you imagine it could be in the future.”

To enter, artists must deliver their work to the Forum Theater Box Monday – Friday, Nov. 11-15 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Artwork must be labelled with the artist’s name, phone number and/or email, the category being entered, and the work’s title, size and medium.

Voting is open to the public. Those wanting to vote should bring any amount of canned goods to the FOA Arts Center 328 S. Main St. Nov. 18 – 22 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and use them to vote for their favorite pieces. Cans will be tallied at the end and winners notified.

The art with the most cans in each of the categories will win “Community Favorite,” however, the FOA will also select a “Staff Pick” from the General category and the Keep Jonesboro Beautiful Commission will choose a “Commission Pick” from the Keep Jonesboro Beautiful category.

Each of the four winners will receive two tickets to an upcoming FOA production, compliments of The Foundation of Arts and the winner of the Keep Jonesboro Beautiful Commission pick will receive an additional $200 cash prize provided by Unico Bank.
