Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Jan. 27, 2025 – The City of Jonesboro announced the date and location for February’s Neighborhood Clean-up.
Jonesboro residents wishing to drop off unwanted items can do so on Saturday, Feb. 1 at Magnolia Baptist Church, which is located at 911 Magnolia Road. The Clean-Up will take place from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. City staff will be on site to help load items into dumpsters.
The following items are accepted:
- Clothes
- Tires (limit to eight, no rims)
- Basketball goals
- Furniture (includes electronics such as TVs, computers and printers)
- Appliances such as dryers, washers and fridges (freon and compressors must be removed)
- Paint cans (must be empty of all paint, lids must be removed and any residue must be dry)
The following will not be accepted:
- Yard waste/limbs
- Tractor/semi tires
- Hazmat materials, such as oils, flammable or corrosive materials, automotive parts, or motors
- Remodeling/construction materials (single pieces are accepted, however)
Glass recycling is also available at the Clean-Up. Glass can also be dropped off on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 2650 Lacy Drive, for those unable to make the Saturday date.
The following types of glass are accepted:
- Any color bottle (beer, wine, liquor)
- Glass food containers (pasta sauce, pickle, hot sauce jars)
- Drinking glasses (water or wine glasses)
- Broken glass
- Glass in loose containers
In addition, it is OK to leave lids and labels on containers. However, the City will not accept glass tied up in plastic bags, or building windows or vehicle windshields.
According to a City of Jonesboro Facebook post, 8.99 tons of trash and 46 tires were collected during the January Clean-Up. The City collected 106.06 tons of trash and 849 tires during the 2024 Clean-Ups.
“Thank YOU, residents, for answering the call to participate,” a City of Jonesboro Facebook post read. “Many thanks to our City’s Code Enforcement and Sanitation Departments, as well as the Keep Jonesboro Beautiful Commission, for working together to keep the 106.06 tons of trash and 849 tires off our streets and out of our city waterways. Let’s work together to make 2025 another successful year of keeping our city clean and green.”
