Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – August 2, 2024 – Craighead Electric Cooperative Chief Executive Officer Jeremiah Sloan is no longer leading the utility company. Sloan’s tenure reportedly ended Friday, July 26. The circumstances regarding Sloan’s departure have not been determined. Sloan’s photo was removed from the company’s website as of Thursday.
Mel Coleman, current CEO of North Arkansas Electric Cooperative, is supporting Craighead Electric as interim CEO. Coleman has been North Arkansas Electric CEO since 2001.
Sloan was named CEO of Craighead Electric on January 4, 2021. He joined the company as an engineer in 2016. He was later promoted to General Manager and Chief Operating Officer of empower, the Craighead Electric rural internet venture.
At the time Sloan was named CEO, Terry Rorex, Craighead Electric Board Chairman, stated, “We are excited to announce Jeremiah Sloan as the newly appointed CEO of Craighead Electric.” At the time, Sloan added, “It is very exciting to be able to lead an exceptional group of employees into the future.”
Sloan succeeded former Craighead Electric CEO Brian Duncan, who announced his retirement in August 2021 after a 43-year career with Craighead Electric.

Craighead Electric Cooperative serves approximately 31,000 meters in eight counties in Northeast Arkansas. Incorporated in 1937, the cooperative operates offices in Jonesboro, Walnut Ridge, and Paragould. The locally owned and managed organization has 108 employees. The cooperative’s wholly owned subsidiary, empower, has over 30 employees and serves just over 14,000 internet subscribers.
