Jonesboro, AR — (Contributed) — May 19, 2025 — The Craighead County Veterans Monument Foundation (CCVMF) will sponsor this year’s Memorial Day ceremony on May 26.
The ceremony will start at 9 a.m. at the Craighead County Courthouse, located at 511 Union St., next to the Doughboy statue. Veterans Honor Guard, Sons of the American Revolution Honor Guard, Service organizations – Ladies Auxiliaries and the Sons of Confederate Veterans Honor Guard, Jonesboro Honor Detail and Westside AFJROTC taking part in this year’s observance of Memorial Day.
Rich Norris, President of the CCVMF and a retired Major in the U.S. Army, will be the keynote speaker for Memorial Day. He will also emcee the ceremony on Monday and give a Memorial Day speech.
The CCVMF invites all veterans and friends of veterans to get involved, with special recognition to be given to veterans in attendance. A special invitation to the veterans of WWII is extended. The public is requested to bring a lawn chair and water.
This year, bricks with veterans’ names will be added to the Craighead County Veterans Monument and names will be read during the ceremony. The CCVMF places the bricks in May and November of each year to honor Craighead County Veterans.

The CCVMF will also have copies of the book “Veterans of Craighead County,” which has numerous articles about veterans over the years and historical facts about Craighead County. Those wanting to do so can buy a copy for $40 on Monday.
The CCVMF is made up of the American Legion Post 21, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1991, Disabled American Veterans Post 26, Military Officers Association of America NEARK Chapter, Sons of the American Legion Squadron #21, and Military Order of the Purple Heart.
