Craighead County, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – The National Weather Service has placed Craighead County under a tornado watch.

The watch is in effect until 11 p.m. It includes seven other counties in Northeast Arkansas: Clay, Crittenden, Cross, Greene, Mississippi, Poinsett, and St. Francis.

Northeast Arkansas is under an enhanced risk for severe storms on Monday. There is potential for supercells to begin to develop in the afternoon, with severe weather continuing overnight. Damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes are all possible, according to the NWS. The areas of greatest concern are near the Kentucky, Missouri, and Tennessee borders, the NWS said.

Heading into Tuesday, in Northeast Arkansas, the severe weather threat decreases to a level 2/5.
