Jonesboro, AR (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Sept. 18, 2024 – Craighead County has introduced a new policy regarding signage on properties owned by the county, aimed at improving public safety and maintaining the aesthetic quality of these spaces.

This policy is enacted following a recent court order.

The primary goal of this new policy is to enhance the appearance of county properties and ensure they are free from obstructions that could compromise accessibility or safety. By regulating signage, Craighead County seeks to prevent traffic hazards and prevent signs from becoming a public nuisance.

Under this policy, all signage on Craighead County properties will now be restricted. The only exceptions to this rule are signs that are placed for official public notices by elected officials or their department heads. This measure is designed to keep county properties clear and focused on their intended public use, ensuring they serve the community effectively.

This new policy will not affect political activities permitted by Arkansas law. Individuals will still be allowed to engage in political activities and display non-stationary signs around polling sites in accordance with state regulations.
