Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – June 17, 2024 – A 53-year-old Indiana woman tried to use a stolen drivers license to cash a $6500 check at First Security Bank on Southwest Drive on Friday. She even wore a wig into the bank, and had three others with different hair colors in her vehicle.

Officers tried to stop the white Nissan driven by Kelly South as it was leaving the bank, but she sped away, sometimes driving into oncoming traffic.

Multiple law enforcement vehicles were involved in the high-speed pursuit up Highway 141, through Craighead County and later into Greene County continuing at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour.

The chase ended in front of the Burger King on West Kingshighway in Paragould. South lost control and caused a 3-vehicle accident according to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department. Fortunately, there were only minor injuries, but South had to be cut out of her vehicle.

Snyder’s post said “W. Kingshighway in front of Burger King is shut down due a three-vehicle accident following a pursuit that originated in Craighead County. Minor injuries are reported at this time. Please avoid the area until this scene is cleared.”

South was taken to a local hospital and then to the Craighead County Detention Center.

At her probable cause hearing, Judge Boling charged South with theft, forgery, identity fraud and fleeing, plus reckless driving and driving with a suspended license.

Her bond was set at $25,000 c/s.
