Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – May 22, 2024 – The Jonesboro City Council heard the first reading for two ordinances for private club permits Tuesday, May 21.
Donald Billips of Paragould wants one for La Torcia Brick Oven Pizza at 604 E. Highland Dr. He owns a Brick Oven Pizzeria in Paragould.
City resident James Hinds told council members that he opposed the permit.
Brian Nobles of Jonesboro wants a permit for The Arts Annex, 330 S. Main St. He wrote that the business would sell prepackaged food.
Hinds again spoke out against this permit, saying he thought a private club had to offer full meals and not just prepackaged food. Hinds asked council members whether anyone could get a private club permit by just buying a vending machine.
In other business, city resident Patti Lack expressed concerns over the widening of Harrisburg Road to five lanes. She said making a left turn onto Harrisburg Road is difficult enough with only two lanes. Lack said that with five lanes, it would make it almost impossible.
