Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — April 15, 2025 — During Tuesday’s City Council meeting, Mayor Harold Copenhaver honored Jonesboro E-911 dispatchers with a proclamation.
Copenhaver proclaimed the week of April 13 through 19 as E-911 Emergency Dispatcher Week.
“E-911 emergency dispatchers are the first and most critical contact our citizens have with emergency services. The E-911 emergency dispatchers contribute daily to the apprehension of criminals, suppression of fire and getting treatment for patients,” Copenhaver said. “Despite the emotional toll and intense nature of the work, Jonesboro’s E-911 dispatchers remain passionate and committed to serve the community with care and dedication.”
In addition, the City of Jonesboro announced last week that it was starting the “Adopt a Dispatcher” campaign, in which citizens can donate gifts and other items to dispatchers. The campaign is in honor of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, which is also April 13-19. The donations are to be delivered to dispatchers this week.
Copenhaver said during his mayor’s report of the meeting that all dispatchers had been adopted. He added that after the city council meeting, he would be heading to the dispatch center to deliver each employee their own personal proclamation to thank them for their work.
