Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — March 31, 2025 — City Water and Light will be flushing its water systems starting next week.

The flushing starts Sunday, April 6 and will continue until Friday, April 11. Flushing will begin each day around 11 p.m. and end around 5 a.m.

Slade Mitchell, energy marketing administrator for CWL, said flushing is done periodically to ensure the water’s taste quality remains high. He added that customers can still use water during the flushing.

The following areas in Jonesboro will be flushed:

Area 3 (area boundaries listed below):

  • North – E. Highland
  • West – Harrisburg Rd
  • East – S Caraway
  • South – Browns Ln

Area 4 (area boundaries listed below):

  • North – E. Parker Rd
  • West – Harrisburg Rd
  • East – Stadium
  • South – Colony

Area 5 (area boundaries listed below):

  • North – E. Nettleton
  • West – Church St.
  • East – S. Caraway
  • South – E. Highland

Area 6 (area boundaries listed below):

  • North – E. Highland
  • West – Red Wolf Blvd
  • East – Industrial Dr
  • South – E. Parker

Area 7 (area boundaries listed below):

  • North – Aggie Rd
  • West – S. Caraway
  • East – E. Nettleton
  • South – E. Highland

Mitchell said Area 5 will be flushed first, followed by Area 3, then Area 4, Area 6, and finally Area 7. This is subject to change, however.

“Although the water is still safe to drink, sometimes the flushing process can stir up minerals in the pipes and cause water coloration.  Generally, running a faucet inside your house can help eliminate coloration,” Mitchell said.
