Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — April 7, 2025 — The City of Jonesboro is warning residents about a recent phone scam in which callers are requesting donations for the “Jonesboro Volunteer Fire Department.”
“We’ve been made aware of phone calls being made to Jonesboro residents requesting donations for the ‘Jonesboro Volunteer Fire Department.’ These calls are a scam,” the city said in a Monday news release. “The City of Jonesboro and the Jonesboro Fire Department are NOT making any fundraising phone calls.”
If you receive a call from 501-667-8040 or 870-935-5551, do not provide personal or financial information, the city said. Instead, report the call to the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office at (800) 482-8982 or online here. Alternatively, citizens can report it to the Federal Trade Commission here.
