Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Jan. 21, 2025 – With frigid temperatures descending on Northeast Arkansas, the City of Jonesboro announced its warming centers, as well as the Salvation Army’s overnight shelter, are open.

The City of Jonesboro will be providing daytime warming centers at various locations in the community. Jonesboro Economical Transporation (JET) will be providing free transportation to and from warming centers. The hours and locations of the shelters are below.

  • Earl Bell Community Center
    • 1212 S. Church St.
    • Open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. Closed Sundays
  • Allen Park Community Center
    • 3609 Race St.
    • Open 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. Closed Sundays
  • Jonesboro Youth Community Center
    • 1421 W. Nettleton Ave.
    • Open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. Closed Sundays
  • Parker Park Community Center
    • 1506 N. Church St.
    • Open 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. Closed Sundays

In addition, the Salvation Army’s overnight warming shelter will be available. JET will also provide free transportation to the shelter.

It has 50 beds available. Those wishing to stay need to check in from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at 800 Cate Ave. Checkout is immediately following breakfast, which is served at 7 a.m.

There are no reservations and is on a first-come, first-served basis. According to the City of Jonesboro, the overnight shelter will be available throughout the week, with additional hours to be considered if or when warranted. This includes Sundays.

In addition, the Salvation Army will provide a free hot meal daily at 5:30 p.m. for anyone needing one.
