Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Jan. 6, 2025 – With temperatures below freezing and wintery weather expected on Friday, the City of Jonesboro provided tips for keeping pets warm and safe.

In a Facebook post on Monday, the City recommended keeping walks short, as prolonged exposure to the cold can lead to hypothermia, frostbite and more. When walking pets, make sure to use pet-safe booties or paw balm to protect their paws from ice and salt.

If you have a smaller animal or short-haired pet, the City recommends bundling them up with either a coat or sweater.

In addition, owners should ensure their pet has access to a dry, warm space inside, away from drafts. Owners should be on the lookout for antifreeze spills, and clean them up immediately, as it is toxic to pets.
