Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Dec. 3, 2024 – Multiple Jonesboro city meetings have been moved to Thursday due to the election.

The Public Works Council meeting originally scheduled for today at 5 p.m. and the City Council meeting at 5:30 p.m. were moved to Thursday at 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., respectively.

All meetings will be held in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Center located at 300 S. Church St. They will also be livestreamed on the City of Jonesboro Facebook page.

The Public Works Council will discuss an ordinance to amend sections of the stormwater drainage design manual. These amendments will require a two-foot freeboard for both residential and nonresidential structures in floodplains.

Freeboard is a measure of how far above a structure’s lowest floor must be elevated or floodproofed to be in accordance with state or community floodplain management regulations. Read the full ordinance here.

The City Council will discuss placing municipal liens on multiple Jonesboro properties. They will also discuss purchasing property located at 1100 South Culberhouse St. If the resolution passes, this will also amend the FY2024 Land Bank Budget.

The land costs $55,000 and is near City Water and Light Park. Purchasing this land “will allow for future expansion of the park as needed,” according to the resolution. Read the full resolution here.

An ordinance on first reading looks to place various traffic signs at Brookshire Place, Windy Lane at Rockport Drive and Morgan Drive at Kathleen Street and Colchester Drive. It will establish numbered parking on 4200 and 4300 of Prospect Northside of road.

There are also two rezoning ordinances on second reading.

One will change zoning boundaries from residential to commercial at property located at 5715 and 5719 E. Johnson Ave. Another will rezone residential property at 3732 Industrial Drive to industrial.

A final rezoning ordinance is on its third reading. It will rezone property currently classified as residential and industrial located at 6106 Southwest Drive to low-density residential and commercial.
