Jonesboro, AR – (Contributed) – July 24, 2024 – Chris Gibson has announced his candidacy for reelection to the Jonesboro City Council, Ward Three, Position Two. His current term will conclude in December of this year.
“Jonesboro is a great city, and it has given me and my family so much,” Gibson stated. “As a councilman for the last 16 years, I have had the opportunity to give back to the community that I love. I want to see Jonesboro continue to grow and thrive. There is no greater reward than being a public servant, and I value the opportunity to continue my service to this community.”
Gibson’s long-standing commitment to Jonesboro is evident through his numerous accomplishments and dedicated service. Beyond his service as a councilman, Gibson has served on the Public Services Committee for 16 years, 15 of which as Chair. He has also served on the Public Safety Committee (16 years), Nominating and Rules Committee Chair (8 alternating years), and Jonesboro Advertising and Promotions Commission (8 years). Gibson was certified as a Municipal Official by the Arkansas Municipal League (AML) in 2012 and has served as a member of the AML Large First Class Cities Advisory Council since his certification.
Gibson’s service has not been unnoticed. He was the recipient of the Adrian White Municipal Leadership Award from AML in 2018, the AAMEN Leadership Award for investing in the youth of the community in 2020, and the Marvin Vinson Commitment to Excellence Award from AML in 2024. Gibson is a graduate of Jonesboro High School and Arkansas State University. He and his family are active members of Central Baptist Church.
