Charles Harold Morris passed away Tuesday, March 19th, 2024 at the age of 93. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nellie Jo Morris. Loving father of Janet (Jurl R. Claude Jr.) Claude, Wesley G. (Cynthia) Morris, and Brenda (Lawrence) Fuqua. Cherished grandfather of Jurl R. Claude III, Jamie R. (Jesse) Hines, Robert G. Morris, Kristina A. Morris, Brandon G. Williams and Sarah (Randall) Combs. Great-Grandfather of Kaden M. Claude-Osak, and Jesse C. Hines Jr. and step-great grandfather of Darlene Hines, Eugene Hines, Finn Combs. Charles is a beloved uncle, cousin and friend to many.
Charles was born in Rector, AR to the late W. Grant and Etta Lee Morris. Charles left the family farm in Arkansas to join the Air Force in 1951. After his stint in the Air Force, Charlie joined the commercial aircraft industry as an A&P mechanic with Ozark Airlines in Saint Louis. Charlie indulged his passion for flying during his retirement, becoming a fixture at the Alton Airport. When not flying his Cessna Cardinal or puttering in his Model T that he kept in the hangar, Charlie was always willing to help out his friends with troubleshooting and maintenance.
Charles was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who had the joy to know him.
Visitation and services were held at Hutchens Mortuary in Florissant, Missouri on March 22 and 23rd, and March 24, respectively.
Charles will also have services in Paragould alongside his daughter, Janet D. Claude, on Saturday, April 13, at Mitchell Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. with graveside services immediatley following at Greene County Memorial Gardens.
