Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – June 15, 2025 – District 30 State Representative Fran Cavenaugh announced this week she doesn’t plan to seek re-election in the 2026 election cycle. Two days later Craighead County District 9 Justice of the Peace Josh Longmire announced that he will seek the Republican nomination for the District 30 seat.
In making her announcement, Cavenaugh said, “I’ll still work hard and continue to be your voice in Little Rock through my current term. I will continue to work to make life better for the people of District 30 and the State of Arkansas.” Cavenaugh added that “it has been one of my greatest honors to represent the great people of District 30, but it is time for me to step back.”
Longmire created his campaign Facebook page on Saturday with posts identifying him as “our conservative voice in the State House.”
The official filing period for candidates in the 2026 election cycle opens on November 3, 2025. The preferential primary election is March 3, 2026.
