Brookland, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — June 7, 2025 — Brookland Public Schools announced its new superintendent Saturday.

In an announcement, the district said George Kennedy would be its next superintendent effective July 1.

Kennedy served as the district’s interim superintendent for seven months in 2022. The BPS website lists him as the assistant superintendent.

“His integrity, goals for student achievement, commitment to community, and dedication to provide teachers and faculty with the tools and support to succeed align with our vision for Brookland Public Schools,” the district said. “His growth over the past [four] years as a Bearcat gives us great confidence that he is the perfect fit for the position.”

Kennedy replaces Dr. Brett Bunch, who served as superintendent for three years. Bunch will be superintendent of Lonoke Public Schools.
