Brookland, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — May 28, 2025 — A Brookland man is accused of beating a six-month pregnant woman and an 11-year-old victim.
While standing before Judge Barbara Halsey on Tuesday, 46-year-old Shamon Gregory was charged with one count of second degree domestic battery of persons 60 years old or 12 years old or younger, one count of third degree domestic battering causing injury to a pregnant woman, and one count of endangering the welfare of a minor.
According to the probable cause affidavit, a Jonesboro Police Department officer responded to a domestic disturbance and made contact with the pregnant woman, who said she and Gregory had just been in a physical altercation. She added that Gregory had stopped the face of an 11-year-old victim and that he was inside the home.
The officer entered the home and found Gregory, who appeared to be intoxicated, the affidavit said. Police said he was initially not cooperating with the officer’s instructions but eventually complied. Gregory was detained for safety.
The officer spoke with another individual, who identified herself as the older sister of the 11-year-old. According to the affidavit, she confirmed Gregory had been heavily drinking, became aggressive, then hit and stomped on the 11-year-old’s face without “any provocation.”
The 11-year-old’s mother said there had been a disagreement over parenting and disciplining methods, which escalated into the physical altercation. The affidavit said she told officers Gregory was “verbally abusive” toward the 11-year-old, calling them “derogatory names,” and accusing the victim of being “evil.”
Medical assistance was provided to the injured parties, and Gregory was transported to the Craighead County Detention Center.
He’s being held on a $75,000 cash or surety bond and has a court date of June 27.
