Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – April 2, 2024 – District Judge Tommy Fowler found probable cause Monday, April 1, to charge a Jonesboro man with three felonies and two misdemeanors.

David Alexander, 34, of Jonesboro was arrested Saturday afternoon, March 30, after police responded to a report of a woman being assaulted at a Jonesboro hotel, which is listed as Alexander’s residence.

When Jonesboro police arrived, they found Alexander on top of the 39-year-old victim attacking her, according to a probable cause affidavit. Police could smell the odor of intoxicants coming from Alexander and said he was unsteady on his feet and slurring his words.

The victim told officers that she and Alexander were staying at the hotel, and he became very angry earlier and was very intoxicated. She said she wanted to leave, but Alexander prevented her from doing so and would attack her. She said this went on for hours. Alexander ordered a pizza, and when it arrived, she was able to escape from the room.

Fowler charged Alexander with aggravated assault on a family or household member, first-degree terroristic threatening and third-degree battery with the purpose of causing injuries, all class D felonies, and misdemeanor kidnapping/false imprisonment and public intoxication.

Fowler set Alexander’s bond at $50,000 and ordered an ankle monitor be worn if released and also issued a no-contact order between him and the victim.

Alexander’s next court date is May 24 in Craighead County Circuit Court.
