Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – July 15, 2024 – A Bono man has been charged with the abuse of an impaired adult after a home health nurse called authorities over the weekend.

Deputies responded to a home on Highway 63 and came into contact with Michael Tate. His wife, Mary, was in need of medical attention, according to the nurse’s statement in the report. But Tate refused to let deputies check on his wife. He was very agitated and repeatedly cursed them as they entered the home. They made the decision to place him in handcuffs.

They located Mary in a back bedroom of the home in a horrible state of health. She’d had all five toes amputated on one of her feet. She was lying in bed in a pool of her own vomit, with dried blood and feces on the floor.

EMTs were called to the scene, and they attempted to get information from Mary, but she was unable to speak coherently. They asked questions like “Who’s the President?” and she didn’t know the answer. The foot with the amputations was reportedly infected to the point of gangrene setting in.

She was taken to St Bernard’s. He was taken to jail, and his bond was set at $100,000 in his probable cause hearing.
