Mrs. Bonnie Bell Hillis of Harrisburg, departed this life on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, at the age of 80.

She was born October 4, 1943 in Weona, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Porter Waters and Pearl Bevins Waters.

Bonnie married Jimmy Hillis on November 20, 1964 and they enjoyed 59 years together. She worked for 2 years at the shirt factory in Marked Tree and then became a full-time homemaker. She loved camping and spending time with her children. Bonnie was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Trumann.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Carl Waters, Tooney Waters, Berry Waters, Frank Waters and Leon Waters, and two sisters, Jewell King and Marie Sloan.

She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Hillis of Harrisburg, four children, Cindy Griffin of Harrisburg, Connie Caplinger and her husband Dustin of Harrisburg, Crystal Clayton and her husband Jay of Jonesboro, and Jennifer McKellar and her husband Buddy of Cherry Valley, eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services are set for Friday, May 10, 2024, at 10:00 am, at the Gregg-Weston Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisburg with Brother Ricky Dobbins officiating. Interment will follow in Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday evening, 5:00-7:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Scotty Fitzgerald, Trent Fitzgerald, Ryan Robson, Chase Whitaker, Jonathan McKellar, and Joshua McKellar. Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Fitzgerald, Buddy McKellar, Jay Clayton and Dustin Caplinger.
