Bay, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — May 15, 2025 — Bay School District was on lockdown earlier on Thursday due to a reported threat outside of the school.
In a text sent to parents and guardians on Thursday, May 15 at 12:49 p.m., the district said students and faculty were safe and secure, and it was working to verify the validity of the threat. It asked that parents not attempt to enter the campus while it was on lockdown.
In a Facebook post, the district said staff were notified that there might have been a person with a gun outside the buildings.
“After a brief lockdown, our SRO’s verified that there was no one with a gun and that campus was secure and we were able to return to our normal schedule,” the post said.
The Bay School District’s superintendent’s office confirmed to JRN at 1:25 p.m. that it was no longer on lockdown.
“We have verified that there is no imminent threat as reported,” another message sent to parents said. “Thank you to all of our faculty, staff, and students, as well as our SROs and safety team, for doing such a great job under pressure.”
It added that any parent or guardian wishing to pick up their student may do so.
