Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – July 15, 2024 – Jonesboro police were dispatched to the intersection of Caraway and Harrisburg Road concerning a man running barefoot in the middle of the road.
As officers called out to the subject, Brian Swindle, he laid down in the road, asking for his phone call, and begging the officers not to shoot him.
He refused to tell the officers his name, and as they got closer to him in the street, he got up and ran away.
A short time later, Swindle was apprehended, but as he was being escorted to a squad car to be searched, he was able to break free and run away again. By this time, a unit with a K9 officer had arrived and Swindle was warned several times that the K9 was coming after him if he didn’t stop.
He chose to keep running.
The K9 officer was released and “quickly made contact” with Swindle. He was apprehended again and taken to St Bernard’s to be treated for a dog bite.
In his probable cause hearing, Swindle had several charges: public intoxication, disorderly conduct and obstruction of governmental operations, and escaping from custody.
His bond was set at $50,000 c/s.
