Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — July 7, 2025 — The federal government is making efforts to collect restitution from former Craighead County Clerk Jacob “Kade” Holliday.
According to Arkansas Business, the federal government in May asked the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas to issue a writ of garnishment to Nationwide Retirement Solutions of Columbus, OH.
In September 2022, Holliday was sentenced to 57 months in federal prison for stealing more than $1.5 million in county money.
The 36-year-old former clerk was also ordered to pay $1.579 million in restitution to Craighead County. As of May, Holliday has paid $113,701, but $1.46 million remains, according to a court filing from the office of Jonathan D. Ross, U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas.
Arkansas Business reports that the federal government said in a pleading that it believes Nationwide will owe money to Holliday for a retirement plan.
Retirement Solutions responded last month and said it has a retirement account for Holliday, but only $15,199 was in it, according to Arkansas Business. The last amount Nationwide received for the account was a contribution of $100 on June 19, 2020.
The Arkansas Business story says that was about the time that a bank official noticed something suspicious about Craighead County’s account and contacted the county judge. From there, the embezzlement came to be discovered, according to court records.
Holliday has served his time at the federal prison in Memphis but is currently serving his sentence at a residential re-entry management facility in Grand Prairie, TX. His release date is Jan. 28, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
