Ann Patton, lifelong resident of Jonesboro, passed away in The Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House on Wednesday, Nov. 27th. She was an East Tennessee beauty born in Johnson City, TN – the middle of 6 brothers and 5 sisters.  In Washington D.C., she attended George Washington University while working for the Civil Aeronautics Board and the Red Cross. Working as a proofreader at night for the Tri-Cities Newspaper she put herself through East Tennessee State University earning her degree in English.  Ann was a former Miss Tennessee. Moving to Memphis TN she became a stewardess for Chicago & Southern Airlines.  It was there that she met her husband, Russell H. Patton, Jr. Married in 1952, they raised their 4 children: Marcia, Dottie, Cathy and Russell III.

Constantly involved in the community she was a past PTA president, boy scout den mother, Reader’s group, AAUW,  Daughter’s of the American Revolution, Daughter’s of the Holy Cross of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church. Longtime member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church     Generous in her giving she recently awarded a grant to Northeast Arkansas to help adult literacy, education assistance in job placement, and focus groups on middle school and early teen development.  She was loved by all who knew her.   She will be remembered for her kindness because it was Constant and True.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Patton Jr. daughter, late Lt. Col. Marcia Patton, daughter, Dottie Wilson, grandson, Parker Wilson (Laura), great-grandson, Grant, daughter, Cathy Hall, (John), granddaughters, Elizabeth Stark, (Joseph), Sarah Hall, son, late Russell Patton III, (Marie-Jose).

Pallbearers: Parker Wilson, Stan Lamb, Mike Ebbert, Dan Pasmore, Lonnie Couch, Woody Freeman.

Visitation will be held Monday from 3:00 – 5:00 pm,  December 2nd at the Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at St. Timothy Anglican Church, 419 W. Highland Drive, Tuesday, December 3rd at 2:00 p.m. with Father Thomas McGee officiating. Burial will follow services in the Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
