Jonesboro, AR – Contributed – The Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library invites families and community members to participate in a series of America 250 Staycation programs taking place June 29 through July 2.
These free events are open to the public and celebrate American history through hands-on crafts, STEM activities, and interactive performances for all ages.

On Monday, June 29, from 2 to 3 p.m., children in kindergarten through third grade are invited to the Boston Tea Party Boat Building program. Children will build their own seaworthy vessels and put their creations to the test as part of a hands-on activity inspired by the American Revolution.
On Tuesday, June 30, from 2 to 3 p.m., Elementary Age Crafts and STEM Activities will offer children in kindergarten through third grade the opportunity to create patriotic crafts and participate in engaging STEM-based learning activities celebrating America’s 250th anniversary.
On Wednesday, July 1, the library will host two performances of “Henny Penny: The British Are Coming!” at 10 to 11 a.m. and another performance at 3 p.m. Join the Children’s staff for a “revolution-ary” adaptation of the classic tale as part of the America 250 Staycation programming.

Also on Wednesday, July 1, from 5 to 6 p.m., adults are invited to participate in Patriotic Rosette Pins, a craft program celebrating America’s 250th anniversary. Participants will create vintage-inspired fashion accessories in a relaxed, hands-on setting.
On Thursday, July 2, from 2 to 3 p.m., children in kindergarten through third grade can attend Design-a-Flag, a program focused on learning about the symbolism of the American flag while designing their own personal flag as part of the America 250 Staycation.
All programs are free and open to the public. Registration is not required.
