Alice Dorothy Jansen of Pocahontas passed away peacefully on July 21, 2024, at age 98. She was born in Pocahontas on October 1, 1925 to the late Bartholomew Baltz and Rosa Weisenbach Baltz.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Andrew J. Jansen Jr.; sisters, Catherine Barre, Helen Hunter, and Frances Steimel; and brothers James, Tom, Curtis, Fintan, Robert, Raymond, and Lucian Baltz.
Alice is survived by her son, Dr. Andrew Jansen, III (Becky) of Pocahontas; daughters, Jane Munro (Jim) of South Dartmouth, MA., Sarah Counts (Ronnie) of Pocahontas, and Rosemary Power (Mike) of Bentonville, AR.; one brother, Max Baltz (Margie). Nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
She was an active lifelong member of St. Paul Catholic Church. Alongside her husband, she was a supportive presence at Jansen’s Grocery Store. She enjoyed traveling, camping, sewing, and sharing wonderful times with her family and friends at her Current River cabin and Bucksnort hunting cabin. Alice always put her family first. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren brought much joy, love and fulfillment to her life.
Visitation will be held 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at St. Paul Catholic Church, with a Rosary being said at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday July 25, 2024, with Father Stephen Elser officiating at St. Paul Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are her grandchildren, Dr. Stephen Jansen, Dr. Philip Jansen, Dr. Brian Jansen, Garrett Counts, Robert Counts, Stuart Power and David Power.
