Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — June 26, 2025 — Agents arrested a Jonesboro woman after they said she had been trafficking fentanyl in her apartment near an elementary school.
Judge David Boling found probable cause on June 25 to charge 76-year-old Dorothy Harris with trafficking of fentanyl, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence, and distribution near certain facilities (enhanced penalties).
According to the affidavit, agents with the Second Judicial District Drug Task Force went to an apartment in the 1000 block of Rains Street for a search warrant. There, they found a man and Harris, who was trying to go to the bathroom but was stopped.
Agents said that Harris had an orange prescription bottle with 18 pills inscribed with “Centrum S3” and a cellophane bag containing what was later identified as fentanyl, weighing 3.3 grams.
The affidavit stated that as the search continued, agents found three baggies with a white powdery substance in the bedroom, a small set of digital scales, and Zip-Loc-style bags that were said to be commonly used for packaging drugs.
In a Mirandized interview, an agent asked Harris about the drugs found in the pill bottle she had on her, to which she responded that she was trying to get to the bathroom to throw the drugs away in the trash.
“She stated that the baggy that was in the pill bottle with the Centrum pills she believed to be, and she was trying to throw the drugs away in the bathroom because she believed the police were coming into her apartment,” the affidavit said.
While Harris was initially released at the scene as further investigation was required, Harris was later arrested.
The affidavit stated that Harris’ location is approximately 412 feet from the International Studies Elementary School.
Boling gave Harris a $25,000 cash/surety bond, but she bonded out the same day. The affidavit noted that a $250,000 temporary bond was set by Judge Tommy Fowler on June 23.
Harris’s next court appearance is scheduled for July 31.
