Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — July 10, 2025 — An investigation into drug trafficking in Jonesboro culminated on Tuesday after police said they found thousands of grams of drugs and paraphernalia at an apartment, leading to two arrests.
The charges stem from a drug investigation that began in April 2025 by the Second Judicial District Drug Task Force on 46-year-old Dante Dewayne Haggins, who was identified as “a significant source of cocaine and methamphetamine,” according to an affidavit.
During the investigation, agents conducted controlled purchases of cocaine from Dante at his apartment at the Links. They saw Dante coming and going from the apartment several times and meeting people in the parking lot. Arrest warrants were later obtained for Dante and a search warrant for the apartment.
The affidavit said on July 8, Agent Jeremy Parnell saw two women leave and return to the apartment on two different occasions. Dante was also seen exiting the apartment as well as one of the women, both getting into separate vehicles and going in opposite directions.
Other agents were able to find both Dante and the woman who left at Race Street and Caraway Road. A traffic stop was conducted and Dante was arrested. Agents noted he had $715 in cash on him. The woman with him was also arrested for an obstruction charge at the time. Both were taken to the Craighead County Detention Center while agents and members of the Jonesboro Police Department’s Street Crime Unit went to Dante’s apartment for the search warrant.
The affidavit said during surveillance, agents knew several children were possibly in the apartment. Once the door was opened, they called out for anyone inside. That’s when the other woman seen entering and exiting the apartment earlier in the day, now identified as 19-year-old Ashante Haggins, came out from her bedroom. When it was determined no one else was in the apartment, the search began.
Several drugs and other items were found in Dante’s apartment including the following:
- Two marijuana vacuumed-sealed bags totaling two pounds
- One orange THC gummy
- Three pre-rolled marijuana blunts
- Digital scales
- Baggies
- A vacuum sealer with bags
- Marijuana grinders/roller
- A large water bong
- Two different pill bottles with the following contents:
- Three ecstasy pills
- 65 Alprazolam pills with three different dosage amounts
- One Oxycodone pill
- One Hydrocodone pill
- One unknown blue/white capsule
In total, 230 grams of cocaine was found in the apartment, as well as 901 grams of mushrooms, and 2,082 grams of marijuana, the affidavit said.
During a Miranadized interview, Dante admitted that all the drugs belonged to him, the affidavit said. Meanwhile, when asked if she wished to speak with one of the agents, Ashantae requested an attorney, so no questions were asked.
On July 9, Craighead County Judge David Boling found probable cause to charge both Dante and Ashantae with two counts of trafficking a controlled substance, three counts of possession of a Schedule I or II substance that’s not meth or cocaine with the purpose to deliver, three counts of possession of a Schedule IV or V substance with the purpose to deliver, offenses relating to records, maintaining premises, etc., possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a Schedule VI substance with the purpose to deliver.
Dante was given a $150,000 cash/surety bond, while Ashantae was given a $10,000 cash/surety bond. Both bonded out of the Craighead County Detention Center at 5:08 p.m. the same day.
Dante and Ashantae are scheduled to be back in court Aug. 21.
