Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) Sept. 20, 2024 – The Arkansas State Athletics Department announced Thursday that, as part of its yearlong celebration of the 50th anniversary of women’s sports at the school, it will host a tailgate party for all current and former female student-athletes.

The event will take place Oct. 26, before the Red Wolves’ home football contest with Troy and will be part of a full weekend of activities on the campus.

All former student-athletes from any of the school’s women’s sports will be able to claim one free ticket to the 6 p.m. football game and can purchase additional game tickets at a discounted rate.  Those tickets will also allow for entry into the catered tailgate party, which starts at 3 p.m., inside Dustin White Realty Tailgate City, which will also be the site of the football team’s Red Wolf Walk beginning at 3:45 p.m.

The tailgate party will also include visits from current Red Wolves’ student-athletes in women’s sports, and everyone there will be able to take home a special 50th Anniversary of Women’s Sports decal.

To claim a free ticket to the game and leave their information for additional game tickets, former student-athletes are encouraged to visit AStateRedWolves.com/50YearParty. After filling out the information there, former student-athletes will be contacted by a representative from A-State Athletics. The deadline for ticket claims is Oct. 17.

Arkansas State Hall of Honor member Kay Woodiel, who led the women’s basketball, women’s tennis and volleyball programs from the beginning of the sports on the A-State campus, will serve as an honorary captain for the Red Wolves’ football game against Troy.

The tailgate party and football game are just two parts of what will be a weekend filled with action on the A-State campus.  The Red Wolves volleyball team, which is currently receiving votes in the AVCA Top 25 poll, will host Troy on Oct. 24 at 6 p.m., and Oct. 25 at 4 p.m.  The A-State Lettermen’s Club will induct its 2024 Hall of Honor Class in a ceremony on Friday night at the Woodard McAlister Family Club at Centennial Bank Stadium.

A-State will also host Trevecca in a men’s basketball exhibition game at 11 a.m., on Oct. 26, and a ticket to that night’s football game can be used to gain admission to the hoops contest.  If redeeming the football ticket for the basketball exhibition, visit the A-State Ticket Office at First National Bank Arena (lower red entrance) on game day.

Likewise, the basketball ticket can be shown at the A-State Ticket Office located at Centennial Bank Stadium (near gate W2) on game day to gain entry into the football contest.  Parking for the men’s basketball game will be available for $10 in the lots immediately surrounding First National Bank Arena.

The Red Wolves Tennis team will host its Scarlet and Black Open Oct. 24-26, and it will also be Alumni Weekend for the A-State Soccer team.  The Red Wolves will host their Senior Day match against Old Dominion at 1:00 p.m., on Sunday, Oct. 27, at the A-State Soccer Complex.
