Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – A Jonesboro sex offender is back behind bars on a much higher bond after police said she failed for the fifth time to comply with reporting requirements.
According to the Arkansas Sex Offender website, 44-year-old April Genene Sutton had been delinquent since July 15, 2023. She was convicted of incest in July 2004 and assessed as a Level 3 sex offender.
A probable cause affidavit states that on March 2, Sutton was released from the Craighead County Detention Center and went to the Jonesboro Police Department the next day to change her address to a home in the 400 block of East Darling Street in Paragould. However, on March 27, a detective was informed that Sutton did not move to that address.

State law requires registered offenders to report any changes to their home/mailing address, or temporary domicile, and to do so no later than five days before establishing that address as their location. The offender must also report to the local law enforcement agency having jurisdiction at the new address within five days of relocation.
The affidavit stated that Sutton did not make any contact to inform that she did not move to the Paragould address or update her physical address. It was learned that she was staying at a storage building in the 700 block of Locust Drive, which is 1,132 feet away from the First Presbyterian Preschool at 710 Southwest Drive.
State law also says that Level 3 offenders cannot live within 2,000 feet of a property on which any school or daycare facility is located, public parks, youth centers, or the home of the victim.
The Craighead County Sheriff’s Office jail roster shows that Sutton was arrested on April 28. She appeared before District Judge David Boling a day later. He found probable cause to charge her with two felonies: Failure to register – failure to comply with reporting requirements (Class C) and registered offender living near school/daycare (Class D).
This is the fifth time Sutton has been arrested on the same charge since 2003. Two of those instances were in 2025. She was previously accused of living near the Phillip Evans Community Park in February 2025, and in September 2025, she was accused of living near the same park and Leap Forward Daycare.
Because of this, Boling gave Sutton a $950,000 cash/surety bond and ordered her to wear a GPS ankle monitor upon release.
Sutton’s next court appearance is scheduled for June 26. If convicted on all charges, she faces up to 16 years in prison and fines up to $20,000.
