Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — June 18, 2025 — A Jonesboro man was given a $500,000 bond on Wednesday after being charged with two counts of aggravated robbery, among other charges.

While standing before Judge Tommy Fowler on Wednesday, 20-year-old Jaylen Scales was charged with two counts of aggravated robbery, two counts of third degree battery and one count of aggravated assault. He was given a $500,000 cash or surety bond, ordered to have no contact with the victims and have no weapons. If he makes bond, he must wear a GPS ankle monitor.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Jonesboro police officers were sent to a fight on Mary Jane Drive on June 12. When officers arrived, they found three victims who’d just been robbed by multiple suspects with guns.

One of the victims told officers Scales had called him wanting to hang out, asking to meet on Mary Jane Road and park at the end of the roadway. This victim decided to bring two friends with him.

The victim said initially, Scales was alone, and everything appeared to be fine. Scales then told the victim and his friends he needed to use the bathroom, after which they turned their backs while Scales urinated on the vehicle.

The affidavit said while the victims’ backs were turned, Scales asked, “What time is it?” and when the first victim turned around, Scales was accompanied by other people carrying guns and wearing masks.

Scales proceeded to strike one of the victims in the head multiple times with a pistol, the affidavit said. Two victims tried to run toward a house, but they were intercepted by other subjects behind the residence. Both had masks and weapons.

Another victim was attacked by the vehicle. The affidavit said during the attacks, the suspects were demanding money and wanted the victim near the vehicle to open it. The suspects then searched the victims and the vehicle for items and then fled the area on foot.

During the incident, two victims sustained wounds to their faces and the backs of their heads. One of the victim’s car keys, as well as $1,200, were taken.

Scales’s next court date is July 31. He’s being held in the Craighead County Detention Center.
