Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – November 16, 2024 – The 17th annual Fill the Food Bank was a big success. Food and cash donations the equivalent of 327,881 meals were received during Friday’s event.
Fill the Food Bank is a partnership between the Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas, the Jonesboro Radio Group and KAIT-TV. The event began 17 years ago with one truck and one location at Bill’s Fresh Market on Highway 49 at Hilltop. The event has grown to 12 donation sites all across Northeast Arkansas.
“That’s quite a bit more than last year,” said Christie Jordan, Executive Director of the Food Bank. “Thanks to our communities for all you do.”
Food Bank Chief Development Officer Rebecca Hendrix echoed Jordan’s sentiments. “We are so thankful for everyone that contributed and for all the support you have given us.”
The Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas serves 12 Northeast Arkansas counties. The staff says statistics estimate 74,210 people face hunger in Northeast Arkansas every week. Of that number, 26,800 are children.
You can still support the food bank by going to the food bank’s website and making a monetary donation. With the food bank’s partnerships one dollar can turn into three-and-a-half meals. You can also text NEAFOOD to 44321 to reach the secure donation link.
