Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — June 25, 2025 — Three deputies with the Craighead County Sheriff’s Department were promoted, the department announced Wednesday.
According to a Facebook announcement from the department, Sgt. James Teague was promoted from patrol deputy to patrol sergeant, Lt. Mike Lawrence was promoted from patrol sergeant to patrol lieutenant, and Cpt. Matt Kirby was promoted from patrol lieutenant to patrol captain.
“Promotion applicants go through a series of tests, which include a written exam and an oral board. Education and certification also play a role in the decisions of promotions,” Assistant Chief Jason Allen said in the post. “These guys work hard, not only on day-to-day tasks but are constantly taking classes and training to further their knowledge and skills, to better serve our community.”
