Joe Hafner announced his plan to seek re-election to the Jonesboro City Council Ward 5, Position 2, seat.

“My desire to help my hometown of Jonesboro become a better and stronger city is still the driving force for serving on the city council. During my first two terms, I have demonstrated that I take every issue seriously, try to be as educated as I can before voting on an issue and the guiding factor I have with every decision I make is whether or not it will make Jonesboro a better city in which to live.  That will always be how I make my decisions. Jonesboro is my hometown, and I would be honored to be able to serve for another four years on the city council.”

Hafner graduated Arkansas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant with over 30 years of experience in both public and corporate accounting including manufacturing and service industries.  Hafner currently serves as chairman of the Finance and Administration Committee and is also on the Public Services Committee.  “As a CPA and a CFO for a large local manufacturer, I feel my skillset has allowed me to serve the city well in my capacity as chairman of the Finance and Administration Committee.”

Joe and his wife Margo are the parents of Cameron and Braden.

“While our city has been very successful in many areas, we do have many challenges still in front of us regarding public safety, quality of life and drainage.  I want to be part of working through those challenges and making decisions that will push us through our issues and lead to positive outcomes.  Improved communications, increased education and working together is the way we will grow stronger.”
