Jonesboro-Edna Bernice Turman, 107 of Jonesboro passed away peacefully Friday, July 5, 2024. She was one month short of celebrating her 108th birthday which is August 15, 1916. She was the only child of William and Mollie Harvey.
Bernice loved the Lord and the church, and had the sweetest heart. Her greatest joy was her extraordinary impact on how she touched people. She had a remarkable ability to nurture friendships through the years. She was a woman of deep and humble faith in God. She used her special gifts, warmth, humor, patience, and a smile that could light up a room.
She attended school at Ridge Station until it closed, and then went to Valley View Schools. She enjoyed playing the piano for special occasions. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church where she and her husband sang in the choir. She also faithfully attended Nettleton Baptist Church for a number of years. Most of all she cherished her family, especially her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She was steadfast and devoted to her family.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, Raymond Turman; her three sons, Billy Ray Turman, Garry Turman, and Ronnie Turman; her grandchildren, Keith Boden, Blake Turman and Tonya McKee and her son-in-law, James McKee.
Bernice is survived by her two daughters, Mary (Stanley) Boden and Barbara McKee; three daughters-in-law, Sharon Turman, Linda Turman, and Brenda Turman; grandchildren, Trey (Becky) McKee, Michael McKee, Craig (Badmaa) Boden, Christy O’Neal, Eric Turman, Tammy (Jon) Buckelew, and Dee Turman; thirteen great grandchildren and sixteen great-great grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Central Baptist Church with a visitation at 1:00 PM until time of the service at 2:00 PM. Officiating will be Rev. Larry Bailey and Rev. Jay Jacobs.
Burial will be private under the direction of Gregg-Langford-Bookout Funeral Home.
