Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – July 12, 2024 – The Jonesboro Public Library, located at 315 West Oak Ave, has a jam-packed month of events for people of all ages! Nearly every day of the week the Public Library will be hosting at least one event.
There are a number of children’s events happening this month, there is no registration required for any children’s events. These events will include:
– Bookish Babies Storytimes is a time where parents and their babies ages 0-18 months get together for summer story times. This event will take place on July 18th and July 19th from 10 am to 11 am.
– Toddler Time Storytimes is a time for parents to bring their toddlers aged 19-36 months for summer storytimes. This event will take place on July 18th from 11 am to 12 pm.
– Pre-K Storytimes is a time for parents to bring their Pre-K children for a summer storytime. This will happen July 16th at two different times, 10 am to 11 am and 11 am to 12 pm.
– Adventure Hour for K-3rd Grade offers crafting and activity programs for kids. This will take place on July 16th from 1 pm to 2 pm.
– Summer Performances – Magic Mr. Nick, this is a time for kids of all ages to come see some magic! This event will be from 2 pm to 3 pm on July 17th.
– Foam Party on the Lawn – Ages 9 and under, this is an event to help cap off Craighead County’s Jonesboro Public Library summer events. It will happen on July 17th from 4pm to 5 pm.
There are only two more events for tweens, but they won’t be short on fun! These events do not require registration. The tween events will include:
– Mystery of the Cryptic Codex: An Escape Room Adventure for Tweens is a chance for tweens to have fun doing an escape room. This escape room will lead tweens to unlocking an ancient gate, cracking its codes and puzzles, and ultimately save a secret treasure! This event happens in the Round Room, on July 16th from 3 pm to 5 pm.
– Foam Party on the Lawn – Ages 10 and up is a chance for kids ages 10 and up to help cap off Craighead County’s Jonesboro Public Library summer events. This will be happening from 5 pm to 6 pm on July 17th
The teen events for the month of July are incredibly interactive, and don’t require any registration. The teen events will include:

– Friday Night Magic: the Gathering for Teens is a chance for teens to play Magic the Gathering, decks and supplies will be provided to those who do not have any. This event will happen on July 19th from 4 pm to 5 pm.
– Teens Choose Your Own Adventure: Create a Virtual Escape Room! This event will allow teens to create their own visual novel-style virtual escape room using Google Forms! The best part is that each teen can completely customize their escape room and even share it with their friends and family when they finish building it. It will happen on July 24th from 3 pm to 5 pm in the Round room.
– Teen Tabletop Club is open to all newcomers and returners alike! Here teens get to play tabletop role playing games in a one shot campaign led by Charlie Potter. This event is happening on July 27th from 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm.
There are many adult events happening in the month of July at the public library, some require registration, but most don’t. The adult events will include:
– Knitting will be held on July 18th, and July 25th from 12 pm to 1 pm. The Knitting club is open to everyone, no experience or materials are required if you choose to go. If you are a beginner you can be set up with a learn-to-knit kit, if you are experienced you can ask for advice on tougher projects, or you can just knit and enjoy the company of fellow knitters. Crocheters, weavers, and any other kind of fiber artist is welcome to join!
– Cross-stitch club will be held on July 18th, and July 25th from 4 pm to 5 pm. This club is beginner friendly and open to everyone! Aida fabric, embroidery floss, needles, hoops, and plenty of patterns are provided.
– Zumba will be held on July 18th, and July 25th from 5 pm to 5:50 pm. This is open to everyone and doesn’t require registration.
– Yoga: Mind and Body will be happening on July 15th, July 22nd, and July 29th from 5 pm to 5:50 pm in the Round Room. This event is open to all adults and doesn’t require any registration.
– Intro to Food Preservation is a presentation about food preservation brought to the library by the Craighead County Extension Office. Everyone is welcome and registration is not required. This event will take place on July 19th from 12 pm to 1 pm.
– Genealogy Night is for all family history research skill levels, if you are a beginner or have any questions the library staff and the Genealogy Society of Craighead County will be available. The library has public computers and free Wi-Fi for those who want to bring their own devices. Light snacks will be provided. This event requires registration, it will take place July 20th from 5 pm to 8 pm. Check in will begin at 4:30 pm.
– Adult Ukulele Jam Sessions will happen on July 23rd and July 30th from 5 pm to 6 pm. Musical instruments will be provided, but if you have your own you are encouraged to bring it! The jam session on July 23rd will be to the song Country Roads by John Denver. The jam session on July 30th will be to the song Landslide by Fleetwood Mac.
– Adult Cookbook Club is a chance for people to show off their cooking and baking skills. Each month the club picks a cookbook and members pick a recipe from that cookbook that piques their interest. At the end of the month a mini potluck is put together where each member brings the dish they made. From then on, they discuss the cookbook and their experience with it. This event is by registration only, it will happen on July 27th from 12 pm to 2 pm.
