Billy Lee Jones, 91, of Pocahontas passed away Friday, July 5, 2024 at St. Bernard’s Five Rivers Medical Center.

Billy was born September 15, 1932 in Egypt, AR to the late Ralph W. and Cordie L. Parker Jones.  Billy had a distinguished career of 27 years with the United States Army where he earned the National Defense Service Medal and Dole, Bronze Stars, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Vietnam Service Medal with 8 Campaign Stars, RVN Campaign Medal, and Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm.  Billy was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans.  After retiring from the Army at the rank of Sergeant Major, Billy went on to a long successful career with the Postal Service.  He was a member of Sutton Free Will Baptist Church.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Cordie Jones; sister, Emma Lou Jones; and four brothers, Bobby J. Jones, Jerry G. Jones, Dale D. Jones, and Jimmy Jones.

Billy is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann Brown Jones; son, Billy L. (Kathleen) Jones Jr. of Peoria, AZ; stepchildren, Lori (Joe) Steimel of Pocahontas, Amy (James) Watson of Clinton, Stacey (Shawn) Doan of Pocahontas, and Melanie (Larry Cline) Thielemier of Pocahontas; grandchildren, Timothy and Jillian Jones of Peoria, AZ; great grandchildren, Ethan and Reece Johnston of Peoria, AZ; step grandchildren, Johnathan (Elizabeth) Steimel of Pocahontas, Colton, and Blake Steimel of Pocahontas, Alicia (Tyler) Kopp of Maumelle, Marissa (Zachary) Gates of Cabot, Payton and Gracie Doan of Pocahontas; Zane, Zander, and Zayden Tucker of Pocahontas; step great granddaughter, Josie Mae Gates of Cabot; brothers, Terry R. Jones of Merrett Island, FL and Danny R. (Patricia) Jones of Jonesboro; brother in law, Jerry (Marla) Vandiver of Hardy; nephew, Ricky Barber of Rockford, IL; best friend and sidekick, Molly; and many other relatives and friends.

All services will be at Sutton Free Will Baptist Church.  Visitation will be Friday, July 12, 2024 from 10 AM – 12 PM with a funeral service beginning at 12 PM with Kevin Barnett officiating.  Burial with full military honors will follow in Sutton Cemetery under direction of McNabb Funeral Home.
