Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – June 28, 2024 – While many Jonesboro residents just wrapped up celebrating both Mother’s and Father’s Day, some are only holding to memories.

A local organization helps encourage mothers and fathers who are not physically holding their babies because of the tragedy of infant loss. Local Mpact was established in 2022. After the Propst family lost their infant daughter Marleigh, they realized there was a need for families experiencing loss, to have local support.

According to Rebecca Propst, Executive Director and Founder, just this week they have been contacted by 4 new local families needing their services after losing a little one.

Local Mpact can be found delivering meals, assisting in funerals and purchasing of head stones, providing support with resources, and even mowing yards. Rebecca shared that it’s important to meet the family where they are, and find out their individual needs as a family. Grief looks different for everyone. If that looks like mowing a yard, then that’s how this organization shows support.

Cassie and Nathan Liouh, a Jonesboro family shares, “We lost our baby girl, Lucy when she was 15 days old. This tragedy left us heartbroken, but also so lost as to the logistics and decisions that needed to be made. Local Mpact offered to pay for various expenses which was such a burden lifted. Mpact connected us to grief counselors and shared resources with us. They have connected us with other parents who have experienced infant death. I’m so thankful for Local Mpact and their knowledge, care, and advocacy for families. I cannot imagine going through this without them.”

Most recently Local Mpact closed on purchasing a piece of property where they have plans for a new building. They want to provide a safe place for families to come and find support in the midst of crisis and grief. They will soon begin a building campaign.
