Billie “Valgena” Luter, 94, of Batesville, formerly of Reyno passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024 in Batesville.
Valgena was born February 17, 1930, in Clay County, AR to the late E.P. and Vera Pond Clement. She and her husband were longtime owner/operators of Luter’s Grocery in Reyno. She later worked for Farmers and Merchants Bank and for Arkla. Valgena loved the Reyno community. She was a member of the China Painters Club for many years, enjoyed working crossword puzzles, watching Razorback sports, and was a wonderful cook. But her greatest loves were her grandsons. Valgena was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Valgena was preceded in death by her parents, E.P. and Vera Clement; her husband, Rodney Conrad Luter; two brothers, Sterling and Leon Clement; one sister, Augustine Mofield, and her dear friend, Sonny Hutchison.
Valgena is survived by her sons, Dennis (Monica) Luter of Batesville and Scott Phillip (Melissa) Luter of Hardin, TX; four grandsons, Joey Luter of Fort Collins, CO, Jaxon Luter of Bay City, TX, Jakob Luter of Austin, TX, and Canon Luter of Batesville; three sisters, Imogene Mabry of West Lafayette IN, Betty Baltz of Pocahontas, and Joyce Sahrmann of Cedar Hill, MO; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, May 24, 2024, from 10-11 AM in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with a funeral service beginning at 11 AM with Roger Hovis officiating. Burial will follow in Hite Cemetery.
