Jonesboro, AR – Jonesboro Right Now – Prepare to “fall back” one hour this weekend as daylight saving time comes to an end across the country.
Americans will set their clocks backward one hour on Sunday, Nov. 1. At 2 a.m., clocks will be turned backward to read 1 a.m. This results in sunrise and sunset occurring about an hour earlier, creating more light in the morning and less in the evening.
Most smart devices, such as phones, computers, gaming consoles, and smartwatches, will automatically adjust to the time change. However, wall clocks, appliance clocks, and car clocks will need to be manually changed before heading to bed on Saturday night.

While gaining an extra hour of sleep is usually welcomed, the time shift can still disrupt your internal clock. Keeping a consistent sleep and mealtime routine, even on weekends, will help your body adapt to the earlier sunsets.
If possible, try to get some early morning light in the days following the change to help reset your natural rhythm.
Additionally, local fire departments recommend using the end of daylight saving time as a scheduled reminder to test your home’s smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors, replacing the batteries if necessary.
Daylight saving time will begin again in the spring on Sunday, March 14.
