Jonesboro, AR – Jonesboro Right Now – Curtis Hitt will be the next circuit judge of Division 4 in the Second Judicial District.

According to unofficial election results from the Arkansas Secretary of State, Hitt received 35,961, or 62.85% of the vote, while his opponent, Andrew Nadzam, received 21,260, or 37.15%

Incumbent judge Doug Brimhall occupied the seat. However, he did not receive enough votes during the March race, which served as the general election for judicial candidates. Hitt and Nadzam, however, received enough votes to advance to a runoff election.

“I’m just thankful for everyone who supported us through this long campaign,” Hitt told JRN. “Thanks to all who voted for us. [I’m] just overwhelmingly thankful.”

Hitt practiced as an attorney for nearly 30 years and currently serves as district court judge for the 17th Judicial District, which includes Greene and Clay counties. Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders appointed him to that position in October 2025.

Hitt said his next plans include finishing out “this year strong” regarding his term as district court judge for the 17th Judicial Circuit, and that he looked forward to taking the bench for Division 4 circuit judge.

“Protecting the rule of law and conserving the Constitution, those are my aims. Just applying a fair and even-handed approach to the law for all who come before the court and upholding the integrity of the court so that it’s something that we as a society can be proud of,” he said.

Nadzam serves as a deputy prosecuting attorney in Craighead County and works in private practice handling estate planning, probate, trusts, and more. He confirmed to JRN he will be releasing a statement on Wednesday regarding the election results.

Hitt will be sworn in Jan. 1, 2027.

The Second Judicial District includes the counties of Craighead, Greene, Clay, Mississippi, Poinsett, and Crittenden.
