Jonesboro, AR – Jonesboro Right Now – The precautionary lockdown at Nettleton STEAM was lifted Tuesday afternoon after police successfully detained a third and final suspect connected to a nearby incident.
Sally Smith, public information official for the Jonesboro Police Department, told JRN that officers responded to the Allen Park area at 1:11 p.m. after receiving a call regarding “shots heard”—not confirmed shots fired.

When officers arrived in the area, three suspects fled on foot. Police initially detained two of the individuals while maintaining a perimeter to search for the third.
At 3 p.m., Smith confirmed to JRN that the third suspect had been caught and detained. All three individuals are currently in the interview process with investigators.
The proximity of the fleeing suspects had prompted the lockdown at Nettleton STEAM earlier in the afternoon. Jennifer Morgan, the superintendent’s administrative assistant, told JRN that the measure was strictly limited to the STEAM campus. No other schools within the district were locked down.
Authorities confirmed no weapons or property damage were found. There are also no known injuries, and all students and staff remain safe.
The school district said that buses are running, but delays may occur as schedules return to normal.
This is a developing story. JRN will provide updates as they are available.
