Jonesboro, AR – Jonesboro Right Now – Two Jonesboro men are facing felony charges following a Friday shooting on Westwood Drive that left a juvenile wounded.
Jakarius Lamont Clay and Laryarbrough Lemont Mullins appeared before Judge Ralph Wilson Oct. 19, who found probable cause to charge them with first-degree battery (Class B) and aggravated assault (Class D). Clay faces an additional misdemeanor charge for leaving the scene of an accident with property damage (Class A).
According to the probable cause affidavits, when Jonesboro police officers arrived at the scene, a complainant said her daughter was nearly struck by gunfire coming from a pickup truck speeding away from a neighboring vacant residence. Witnesses reported seeing two victims talking to the truck’s occupants right before the vehicle sped off and shots were fired.

Officers located two juvenile males who had interacted with the individuals in the truck. One juvenile suffered a bullet graze laceration on his left ankle and calf area, which he had tried to bandage himself.
The affidavits said that an individual known as “Gucci” and two others traveled to the location to sell marijuana to the juveniles. After the juveniles decided against purchasing the marijuana, the front-seat passenger pulled out a handgun and fired at the victims as the truck drove away.
Investigators tracked a license plate number captured on intersection cameras to an address on Oriole Drive, where they located the vehicle.
During interviews, Mullins admitted to being in the front middle passenger seat and said he fired a handgun “an unknown number of times” because he believed the individuals were attempting to rob him. Clay admitted to driving the truck, fleeing the location as gunfire began, and striking another vehicle before driving to the Oriole Drive address.
Police said two firearms were found in the center console of the truck, one of which matched the weapon described by the victims and Mullins.
Both suspects are being held in the Craighead County Detention Center on $250,000 cash/surety bonds. If released, they must wear GPS ankle monitors. They are scheduled to be back in court on Nov. 23.
